Italian philosophy from the origins to the Twentieth Century

Sources, texts and authors

However, the research is not restricted to those writers who have concentrated specifically on the civil aspect, but also includes authors who, despite not addressing this subject, nevertheless by contrast demonstrate its strength and dominance. Similarly it includes writers who were originally set within a different tradition and perspective but have been reinterpreted in 'civil' terms - such as Gioacchino da Fiore for example - thereby complicating the canon and bringing its expansive and original potency to the fore.
The project will be broken down into seven sections tracing the salient features of the Italian philosophic tradition from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, taking in the scientific revolution, the Enlightenment, the Risorgimento, the early 20th century and the materialist and even Christian philosophies of the Italian Republic.
