Eastern philosophies and western philosophies: convergences and differences

The investigation proceeds along two parallel axes. On the one hand, it seeks to identify similarities and differences between the two cultural areas, in relation both to specific territories and topics and in terms of the research methods, the forms of collective work and the relations with power.  On the other hand, it aims to examine the points of contact between the extra-European cultures and various phases and exponents of Western philosophy. In parallel, the intention is to explore the attitudes to Western thought adopted in the Indian, Chinese and Japanese cultures, identifying which exponents and movements of Greek and Roman philosophy, and of modern and contemporary European and American philosophy (from Kant and Hegel to Dewey), aroused interest or repudiation.
